A survey is given about the acting mechanism, distinctive features, application scope and basic designing method of ram-compaction piles with composite bearing bases. In light of theliving example of the application of ram-compaction piles with composite bearing base in Pizhou area, this paper illustrates that the technology possesses a lot of advantages as compared with other conventional pile foundations, and there are broad prospects for the application and generalization of the technology in flat and low-lying areas.
