The word Liboliluoli(哩也波哩也啰哩) in the Romance of Western Bower represents the imitating sound of the harmony in the libretto. It originated from r、r、l、l of Sanskrit with some extended and figurative meanings. It posesses the figurative meaning of praying for happiness and removing disasters ; its extended meaning refers to one' s free and easy and contented manners which transcend worldliness. From this extended meaning we can derive its metaphorical and contextual meaning: a joyful date mentioned by Zhang Sheng in the Romance of Western Bower. The word Liboliluoli is a special word in the study of Chinese literature.
