被誉为建设性后现代主义奠基人的怀特海,提倡过程哲学,推崇事物的相互联系,坚持多元论,倡导向他者开放,重视创造性培养,其哲学对他教育思想的形成产生了巨大的影响。他在大学的内涵、大学的教育、大学教育的目的、大学教师的评价以及大学的审美教育等方面都有独到见解,对今天的大学教育具有重要启示。
As the founder of the constructive post-modernism, Whitehead spreads the idea of process philosophy, and has the great esteem for the relations of things. He insists on pluralism, advocates the opening to "the other", and attaches importance to the fostering of creativity. His philosophy exerts a tremendous influence on the forming of his educational thinking. Thus Whitehead has his original views on the connotation of college, college education and its purpose, the evaluation of college teachers, and the aesthetic education of college. And the college education today has gained a great deal of enlightenment from his views.
