During the process of Spreadting Buddhism from the 3rd century to 6th century, the non-Han nationalities played a very special role, especially in the 4th century when Buddhism was developing in the north. We need to understand this problem from two aspects. Firstly, the non-Han nationalities accepted and spread Buddhism earlier than people in other areas. Secondly , in pace with the non-Han nationalities'getting into the Huanghe River valley, people living in the north suffered greatly. They were eagerly seeking for a spitual sustenance and consolation. Therefore, it produced a social basis for the development of Buddhism.
