The necessity and urgency were studied of safety assessment, health monitoring and damage diagnosis in civil engineering. The concept and composition were introduced of structure health monitoring. The classification of the damage detection was reviewed. Especially, system identification and model modification were presented in detail. The wavelet and Neural Network applied to damage identification were introduced.
