稼轩晚年再罢,闲居瓢泉,创作了大量词作。这些词往往以隐逸闲适的面貌出现,与以往相比表面显得平和了些。但稼轩的个性与深层意识都和现实有不可调和的冲突,怨是根本,闲适是无奈,稼轩的情感始终在出世与入世的两极摇摆中痛苦挣扎,既不能忘世,又无法“救世”。把稼轩老来的情感归宿归结为传统道家文化,则不免失之皮相。
