论冯道的业绩

On Feng Dao' Outstanding Achievements

冯道是五代人,为相数十年,敢于进谏,依法为民行政,勇当大任,印刷经典,保存文化,重视个人学习和修身,节俭慈悲,尽自己所能帮助他人,可谓人格纯洁,业绩卓著。其业绩直接推动了北宋初期社会的全面繁荣,从根本上扭转了唐朝后期的浮薄官风,有利于后世文化的保存与传播。很多史家忽视其思想和业绩,仅从冯道身仕五代的表面现象就对冯道进行否定和批判,这是有欠公允的。

Feng Dao served as the prime minster tor about thirty years in the period of Five Dynasties （907-960）. He dared to make remonstrances and administered by law for people ;he printed scriptures to conserve culture; he attached importance to self-study and character cultivation ; he was frugal and benevolent, doing best to help others. His outstanding achievements directly promoted the social prosperity in the early Northern Song Dynasty,reversing the practice of boasting and frivority in the late Tang Dynasty. However, many historians looked upon him only from the surface with the result that they ignored his philosophy of life and merits, so their evaluation is unfair.
