略论语域与翻译

On register and translation

从音、词、句、段四个层面对英汉互译中语域问题进行了探讨,并通过举例指出,翻译的理解与表达不能离开语域的分析;在翻译的过程中,译者必须认真分析原文的语域,应使译文表现出原文的语域特征,产生与原文一样的对等效应。

This article discusses the problem of register in both Chinese-English and English-Chinese translation from the level of speech sounds, lexicon, sentence and paragragh. By quoting examples, the author points out that one cannot understand and express translation without register analysis. In the process of translation, translator should ensure the representation of the register features of the source text in the target text, so that the target text can realize equivalance in effect.
