The image of ＂Fools＂ constitutes part of classics in world literature. With reference to two of such literary figures, i. e. Ah Q and Gimpel, this paper looks into the similarities and differences between the two ＂Fools＂ in correlation with the different cultural and religious backgrounds involved. The paper concludes that Gimpel shows a spirit of humanitarianism, owing to his belief in god.
