Trifluoroethyl p- toluenesulfonate was prepared from trifluoroethanol and p -toluenesulfonyl chloride in the presence of NaOH as catalyst. The influences on the product yield of quantity of NaOH used, reaction temperature, reaction time, and mole ratio of p - toluenesulfonyl chloride to trifluoroethanol were investigated.
