The Importance of Students' Evaluation of Teaching Viewed from the Practice of American Universities

虽然有许多人对学生评教的重要性不理解,但学生评教还是被许多美国大学普遍用来对教学质量进行监控。学生评教最常用的方式是问卷调查,标准化的问卷调查便于进行统计、分析和研究,有利于对教师进行科学、合理的评价,从而改善教学,提高教学质量。当然,如何看待评教结果、给学生成绩的高低对评教结果的影响等问题有待于进一步研究。

Although many people do not understand the importance of the evaluation of teachers＇ efforts by the students in China, students＇ evaluation is a common method to insure the quality of education, adopted by most American universities. One of the most commonly used methods is questionnaire. Standard questionnaire is used to collect and analyze statistics, to do research and give teachers an unprejudiced evaluation so that teaching can be improved. On the other hand, how to view the results of the evaluation and the influence of giving students＇ high credits or low ones are problems which need further study.
