A Cultural Study on Shanghai Cuisine in Toronto

加拿大多伦多市是世界各民族和40万华人聚集的国际大都市,洋溢着多元化文化色彩。综观加拿大多伦多市8家有代表性的上海餐馆,可以从上海菜本身的优越性及近年来上海经济的再度崛起两方面,探寻新世纪上海餐馆在当地纷纷兴起的原因,进一步证明上海作为经济文化发达的中心城市,有着向周边乃至世界辐射自己能量的张力。

Toronto is a Canada＇s cosmopolitan city where gather many people coming from different nationalities all over the world, including four hundred thousand Chinese, and thus it is also a place where multiculturalism prevails. By making comprehensive survey of eight representative restaurants specializing in Shanghai food the study explores the reasons for the rise of Shanghai Cuisine in Toronto in the new era in terms of the advantages of Shanghai cuisine itself and the resurgence of the economy in Shanghai. It proves that Shanghai, as an economically and culturally developed key city, has a kind of tension radiating its own energy to neibouring regions and even the world.
