先秦儒家认为,“和”是宇宙万物存在和发展的内在根据、本质规律及运行状态,是人们立身行事的价值目标、评判准则和理想境界,是人们处理自然、人际、社会的原则和方法。“和”的核心内容是多种不同成分、要素的和谐统一。

Pre-Qin Confucians believe that harmony is the inherent foundation, essential law and circulating state of all things in the universe to exist and develop. It is the value goal, judge criterion and ideal realm that people set up and act on. It is the principle and method that people use to deal with the relations among nature, human and society. The core content of harmony is the harmonious unification of many kinds of different composition and element.
