Cognitive Mechanism of Prototype Theory

原型理论和基本范畴是认知语言学的基石。原型理论所说的原型就是一个概念范畴或语言范畴中最具有突显性、代表性的成员,所有其他成员与原型具有相似性。原型理论与基本范畴的关系是:原型理论在基本范畴中得到最充分的发展;原型最大限度地利用基本范畴的效能。两者互相依存,共生于人类的认知机制之内。

Prototype theory and basic level category are the cornerstones of cognitive linguistics. Prototype in prototype theory is a concept category or the most salient or characteristic member in a linguistic category and all the other members are similar to it. The relation between prototype theory and basic category is that the former can be fully developed in the latter and prototype makes the most use of the capacities of basic category. They interact and coexist in the mechanism of human cognition.
