摘要
《红字》通常被认为是纳撒尼尔·霍桑的杰作,并且毫无疑问成为美国文学上的佳篇。海丝特·白兰,霍桑《红字》中的女主人翁,她尊重自我、追求自由、追求人性高尚和个人权利等等,她沉重打击了清教社会。本文重点从海丝特·白兰的性格特征,特别是从她的反清教思想角度出发来分析她的反清教表现。
The Scarlet Letter is generally considered to be Nathaniel Hawthorne＇s best work and one of the indubitable masterpieces of American literature. Hester Prynne, the heroine of： Nathaniel Hawthorn＇s The Scarier Letter, who values private self, pursing personal freedom, humanity dignity, individual rights and so on, gives a heavy punch upon Puritan society. This paper tries to analyze her characteristics, especially at the point of her anti-Puritanism.
