社会建构主义以激进的研究姿态,解构“标准科学观”,以揭示科学的世俗化特征,表明科学是修辞的产物、权力的象征。从认识论的角度来看,社会建构主义使科学实践中认识主体的力量主题化,但却消除了科学实践中客体的力量。尽管其初衷是为科学提供一种新的社会学分析框架,而不是在本质上批判科学,但社会建构主义打开了那些想从政治意识形态上批判科学的社会学大门。

In radical studies, social constructivism deconstructs ＂standard scientific view＂ and reveals the secular characteristics. Through laboratory studies and controversy studies, social constructivism shows that science is the product of rhetoric, and the symbol of power. From epistemology, social constructivism gives prominence to subject, but clears out the object in scientific practice.
