Vague assumptions

在2005年8月刊上，我引用了特雷克斯·德马格Klaus Meissner关于起重机设计及设计师特征的一个短语。他在今年初阿姆斯特丹举行的起重机安全与管理研讨会上所做的精辟演讲结束时说了这样一段话：“起重机设计是一门模糊的假设科学，以有争议的数字为基础，通过没有说服力的计算，用无法跟踪的材料建造，使用准确性总有问题的设备、由可靠性令人怀疑并且智力有问题的人进行试验。”

In the August^（4） issue I shared a quote offered by Terex Demag＇s Klaus Meissner on the nature of crane design and designers. He ended his excellent presentation at the Crane Safety and Management conference in Amsterdam earlier this year with this： ＂Crane design is a science of vague assumptions, based on debatable figures, from inconclusive calculations, constructed from materials with dubious traceability, tested with equipment of problematical accuracy, by persons of doubtful reliability and of questionable mentality.＂
