In view of the fact that in the hot water heating system with an open expansion tank,some radiators break during water making-up and it takes much longer than expected to make up water to the system,analyses the causes and gives a solution involving resetting the location of the neutral point in the system and adjusting the size of the expansion pipe so as to control the make-up water flow rate equal to or higher than that required by the tank.Gives an example to demonstrate the effects of the solution.
