荷兰的兰斯塔德是西欧四大都市地区之一，也是以多中心结构形成大都市的一个范例。本文阐述和分析了这种多中心结构形成的原因和过程，揭示了荷兰特有的自然地理、政治体制、经济发展方式和文化特点等具体国情对兰斯塔德的作用和影响，并通过对荷兰各个时期最有代表性的城市发展政策和规划战略的探讨．展示了城市及其结构形态在众多因素的共同作用下所发生的演变过程和特点。
Randstad Holland is one of four metropolitan areas in west Europe. It is also an example that the metropolis consists of multi-center structure. This paper analyses the reason and process of this structure, explains the effects to Randstad from natural geography, political system, method of economy development and cultural characteristics of Holland. Through studying urban dbvelopment policies and planning strategies in various periods in Holland, the author expounds the evolution process and characteristics of the city and its structure form
