摘要
四棱豆（ｐｓｏｐｈｏｃａｒｐｕｓｔｅｔｒａｇｏｎｏｌｏｂｕｓ）是豆科植物，广泛种植于亚洲南部和东南部，非洲和太平洋西部地区，它的块根、叶、花及荚果均可食用，富含蛋白质、脂肪、矿物质和维生素等．在斯里兰卡则把四棱豆作为一项食物工程进行研究和开发利用，本文对四棱豆的起源、生态学特性、植物学特性、产量、化学成分等进行报道，并指出其开发利用价值和适合在广东、海南和广西种植．
Winged beau (Psophocarpus tetragonolobus) is a leguminous plant widely cultivated in south and southeast Asia, Africa and the West Pacific Ocean regions. Its root tube, leaf and pod are edible, which contain plenty of proteins, fats, minerals and vitamins. In Sri Lanka, people regard winged beau as a food-engineering to be studied and utilized. This paper reports the specific origin, ecological and botanical characteristics, production and chemical composition of winged beau, and points out the practical value of this plant. It is suitable to be cultivated in Guangdong,Hainan and Guangxi Provinces of China.
