An artificial diet used to rear the borer insect pest,Mesosa myops,is described.By rearing the larva,we found that this longicorn endangers not only the apple tree,the lacquer tree,etc.,but also Canadian poplar.We also found it can grow up and develope very well on an artificial diet containing Populus tomentosa branch ingredient.The result of rearing this longicorn for two years on the artificial diet is that the survival rate of the larva is 93%,and the emergence rate of the adult is 87%.The longevity and the size of the adult are similar between laboratary roaring individuals and catching individuals in the field.It shows that it is suitable to rear this longicorn on the artificial diet.
