Nationalist ideas have provided an ideological basis for the establishment and consolidation of the European modem nations and states, and the identity of the European culture has been providing a mental pillar for the contemporary European integration. The identity of the European culture reflects that there exists not only the diversity of national culture but also the unity of human culture which transcends the national identity in the process of the present globalization. To realize the identity of the European culture on the basis of the national identity is a process of cultural innovation.
