语言是人们交际的重要手段,但不是唯一的手段。包括表情、身姿及手部动作在内的“伴随语言”和包括语音、语调等在内的所谓的“副语言”同样也是交际中不可或缺的因素。从语言学、交际学及社会语言学的角度来看,伴随语言和副语言作为与“语言”手段相对的形式而参与交际,称为“非语言手段”,对语言信息起着支持、补充和修饰作用。非语言手段具有交际功能、交际意义,在某些特殊交际场合中起重要作用。

In communicative activities, language plays a leading role, but that is not its only role. Non -verbal means including accompanying language and paralanguage are necessary as well. They can support, supplement and qualify verbal information and help result in successful communication. In this paper, the communicative functions and senses of non - verbal means and their application in some special cases are discussed in details.
