Up to 10 years of the prosperity and stability of the US economy is indispensable to the high independence and self-determination in making policies on currency. In the United States, however, the independence of the Federal Reserve is a controversial topic. Those who support the independence of the Federal Reserve ar gue that, without independence, political factors will exert influence on currency policies. Those who advocate that the Federal Reserve should be placed under the control of the President or the Congress believe that it is not democratic to leave currency policies to the control of the elite who are responsible to nobody.
