《最后的遗言》是英国当代小说家格雷厄姆·斯威夫特的第六部小说,其丰富的内涵使之成为当代英国文学研究中的热点。借助20世纪著名心理学家荣格的原型论原理对这部作品进行解读,分析小说中主要人物的一次心灵之旅。通过分析小说人物在旅程中逐步撕破“人格面具”,展示内心;走出“阴影”,净化灵魂;最后找到“自我”的过程,探索作品的现实意义和审美价值。
Last Orders is Graham Swift's sixth novel, for which he received the Booker Prize. The profound meaning of the novel made it the hotspot of English contemporary literature research. This essay tries to use the theory of the famous psycholinguist Carl Jung, especially his theory of Archetypes of the Collective Unconscious, to analyze the procedure of the main characters' psychological journey, from which they escape from the "shadow" of their soul and finally find out "self", to look more closely to the author and to acquire a new kinder realistic meaning and aesthetic valne of this novel.
