Existentialism is a modern irrational philosophical doctrine in the west. It had a widespread and profound influence on the western literary creation after the Second World War. The French lieutenants woman is a representative work of British writer -John Fowles. Taking the characters as the tool of analyzing his existentialism, John Fowles put the characters in different surroundings and gave them different concepts. This article ,by giving an analysis of the characters, uncovers how the writer＇s existentialist ideas are reflected in this novel.
