A Study of Income Multiplier of the Tourism Industry in Macao

澳门旅游业占国内生产总值(Gross Domestic Product,GDP)的首位,所以必须就其对整个社会经济的影响作出研究探讨,通过计算凯恩斯(Keynes)式的旅游收入乘数(Tourism Income Multiplier,TIM),从而得知旅游收入的改变对GDP水平的影响,研究结果提供支持证明旅游对澳门经济发展的重要性,同时提供确保社会资源的善用的方向,促进社会的整体繁荣及进步。

The income from tourism industry in Macao ranks first in GDP of China. So it is necessary for us to study its impact on the whole economy. Through calculating the Keynesian-type Tourism Income Multiplier （TIM）, we know the effect of a change in tourist expenditure on the level of GDP. The result of research proves the tourism is so important to the economic development in Macao and shows the direction to use the social resources and to enhance the development and prosperity in Macao.
