胡应麟是明代对刘知几《史通》进行理论研究的杰出代表,虽然他对刘知几的评价从总体上持基本否定态度,但他对刘知几的具体史学观点的批判,往往能切中要点,发论有据,深得后世学者的普遍赞同,对史学的发展有着积极意义。

Hu Yinglin was an outstanding scholar on the theoretical study of Liu Zhiji and Shi Tong in the Ming Dynasty. He had a negative attitude to Liu Zhiji＇s historiographical theory in genetal. To Liu Zhiji＇s some concrete viewpoints,his a nalysis and criticism were often well-documented and struck home, which not only met with general approval in later peri ods,but also had the positive significance to the development of Chinese historiography.
