诗歌翻译贵在求真、求善、求美。翻译时应首先追求形神兼备,如若不能,则先神似而后形似。文章以杜甫《望岳》一诗的英译为例,探讨了诗歌翻译中的形神问题,指出诗歌翻译无论采取何种方式,都要争取最理想的效果,以实现对原作艺术的再创造。

It＇s essential to seek truth, good and beauty in translation of poems. So, in translation, it＇s advisable .to achieve the unity between similarity in form and that in spirit. If it is difficult to do so, it＇s better to arrive at similarity in spirit than that in form. Taking the translation of Wang Yue, by Du Fu, the famous poet of the Tang Dynasty, for example, the paper examines the issue of similarity in form and that in spirit in translation of poems.
