The paper analyzes Xu Xueyi＇ s description of the relationship between the Tang Yuanhe style and Song poetry and the Ming Revivalist＇s view of the latter. It agrees with Xu that the Yuanhe style is a profound revolution in the development of Tang poetry and has significant influence on the formation of the style of Song poetry. The Ming revivalists＇ view of the Yuanhe style showed a gradual change, from the early negative view to a relatively more rational and tolerant attitude among the later revivalists with Xu as a most outstanding representative.
