韩国语词汇中汉字词的比例高达70％,汉字词缩略语也大量使用。这些缩略语的构成,分别受到韩语固有词缩略语和英语缩略语构成法的影响,但主要采用汉语缩略语的构成方式。由于这些缩略语是在韩国语中构成的,受语言、文化、国情的影响,出现了一些韩国语固有的特点,如对汉语四字成语进行韩国语式缩略,对韩国汉字语料进行汉语式缩略。缩略语构成后,汉字之间的语义协调出现弱化现象,汉字首字母的读音也发生变化。

Contractions of the words written in Chinese characters are abundant in Korean. The form of these contractions mainly adopts the contracting method of Chinese contractions, though influenced by the contracting methods of Korean inherent and English contractions. Since these contractions are formed in Korean, they have some inherent characteristics of Korean language under the influences of culture and other conditions of Korea, for example, contracting a Chinese four-word-phrase in a Korean style, or contracting Korean inherent words in Chinese style. When the contractions are formed, the semantic harmony between the Chinese characters becomes weak, and the pronunciations of the initials of the Chinese characters change.
