The basic concept of the controllable intelligent directional drilling tools is expounded, and various kinds of directional drilling tools are classified, i. e. conventional type, in-site adjustable type, surface remote-controlled adjustable type and the downhole automatically adjusting type. In addition, the history and status of the controllable intelligent directional drilling tools are introduced, and their developing bend is discussed.
