On January 17, 2006, gas from Changqing gasfield in northern Shaanxi Province was poured into Anping-Nanjing gas pipeline, marking that the trunk line was successfully brought into operation and the West-East Gas Pipeline and No.2 Shaanxi-Beijing pipeline were successfully connected. Pressure was boosted immediately after its commissioning to ensure gas supply to Beijing and Shanghai. Gas supply to part areas along this pipeline will begin by May, 2006.
