This paper puts forward the viewpoint that doing well in ideological and political work is the root of accomplishing the arduous task of vocational technology colleges, expounds the importance of heightening the awareness of ideological and political work, stresses the need to enhance the competence of ideological and political workers in their work, defines the contents and requirements for the work, and discusses the methods, the respective functions and duties of ideological political workers in the new era.
