The OPC DX specification offers a server-to-server communication mechanism that provides interoperability and allows data exchange among devices connected to Ethernet networks using different fieldbus protocols. On the base of introduction of both OPC DX background knowledge and some openness problems involving in existing control network systems, relating functions and mechanism of OPC DX are analyzed in this paper. Also it elaborates the OPC DX＇s solution for these problems.
