摘要
作为人类认知范畴化的结果,“多义”词汇的各个义项之间存在着某种理据性的联系。根据语义范畴原型理论,范畴的各个成员是从范畴原型(最典型例子)出发,通过家族相似性联系在一起的。本文介绍并运用该理论来解释英语语言中广为存在的“一词多义”现象,以期对多义词的教学提供有益的启示。
As the result of cognitive categorization, there should be some motivation among the various meanings of a polysemous word. According to the prototype theory, members of a category are related by family resemblance, revolving around its prototype, which is its best example. In this article, the prototype theory will be introduced and applied to the motivational interpretation of the words with multiple meanings, which has implication to the teaching of English polysemous words.
