中西方传统伦理观念的差异对英汉称谓语的影响

Influences of Chinese and Western Traditional Ethics Differences on Appellation

语言是社会的一面镜子,特定社会的价值观念和民族思维方式在语言中必然有所反映。东西方由于受不同的传统文化的影响,所以有着不同的传统伦理道德观念,在语言上也有相应的体现。笔者透过中西方传统伦理观念的差异来探讨英汉姓名称谓语、亲属称谓以及社交称谓中的敬称和谦称的差异。

Language is a mirror of a society, thus the value and thinking mode of a nation is bound to be reflected in its language. Due to the influence of different traditional cultures, China and western countries are greatly different in traditional ethics and morality, which can also be seen in their languages respectively. In light of different traditional ethics, this paper studies different appellation in English and Chinese concerning names, kinship, honorific and modest styles of appellation in social communications.
