In the historic cradle of the skyscraper, Chicago, the decline of the abattoirs and steelworks left a strip on the south shore of Lake Michigan near railroads. Millennium Park, with its downtown location and 24 hectares, is now creating a newimage for this old industry and commercial centre as it converts to public activities and art centre.
