介绍SMA在国内外的使用发展概况和结构特点、使用性能,提出设计中应关注的重点问题,以及对SMA应用的思考和认识。

Stone Mastic Asphalt （SMA） is a new kind of pavement originated in recent years and compared with common asphalt pavement it has many advantages in practice so that it will greatly enhance pavement mechanics, prolong pavement life cycle and reduce maintaining charge. SMA has been widely applied in highway construction, city road construction and ailport construction, etc. In this paper, the development, the character and the mechanics of SMA are introduced and some problems in SMA design are discussed.
