Necessity of Cultural Consciousness in Constructing National Spirit

民族精神形成于民族的历史生存和长期实践探索,是民族文化共同体在历史实践中尽情营造、并在精心恪守中与时俱进的思想品格、价值取向和道德规范。它作为民族心理、传统文化、思想情感和民族时代使命的综合体现,其形成和发展有着自身的特点。在当代中国探讨构筑民族精神的途径包括:从文化自觉的高度来强化民族自觉意识和社会历史责任感,以创新民族文化;抓住民族精神构筑的特点,找准在和平、发展时代及社会转型背景下民族精神构筑的内在规律;着眼于社会和谐进步与人的全面发展,不断创新其文化实践形式和有效载体。

National spirit reflects the ideological character and morals,value orientation and the code of ethics which are admitted by the whole nation and formed and developed among a nation＇s historical existence and long-term practice.As the synthetic embodiment of national psychology, traditional culture, mental emotion and time errand,national spirit has its own characteristics in the course of its formation and development. The way of probing into what constructing national spirit in the modernization drive should be analyzed according to its characteristics. There are three main ways： In order to renovate national culture, the national consciousness and historical responsibility should be highly strengthened; by grasping the characteristics of constructing national spirit, the inner law under the circumstances of a peaceful, developing and changing society should be focused; with a view to the society＇s harmony and progress and all-around development of citizens, its cultural practice approach and effective carrier should be constantly renovated.
