It summarized the main synthesis methods of rosin surfactants from rosin and Its derivatives. There are four types of rosin surfactants, including rosin type cationic surfactants, rosin type anionic surfactants, rosin type nonionic surfactants, rosin type amphoteric surfactants. It further explained these four types surfactants synthesis methods and the field of application. In the end, some suggestion and prospective were given in order to research them further in this field .
