The A-share market reform and competition between two largest shareholders have offered France's Group Danone (DA) an unprecedented opportunity to increase its stake in Bright Dairy & Food Co, one of China's leading dairy product manufacturers. On April 13th, DA announced to acquire 8.46 percent stake from two major shareholders, making it the third largest shareholder in Bright Dairy. At the meantime, DA's influence over Bright Dairy has been strengthened as the company's Chairwoman Wang Jiafen, dubbed the Iron Lady of China's dairy industry, faced mounting pressures after the company's net profit dropped sharply in 2005.Industry experts believe it's just a matter of time for DA to achieve its final goal-controlling Bright Dairy.
