种子萌发试验表明，导致锁阳种子休眠的原因：１）锁阳小坚果的果皮坚硬；２）其种子中存在萌发抑制物质．破除休眠的方法是将小坚果在低温下浸泡一定时期，然后剥去其果皮，剥去果皮的种子用一定浓度的适当试剂处理，除去种子中萌发抑制物质，然后放在最佳萌发条件下时，锁阳种子就在没有白刺根部任何物质存在的情况下，可以完全脱离寄主萌发．

Through experiments on seed germination, causes for the seed dormancy of Cynomoriumsongaricum are known as the hardness of the fruit's wall and the existance of the inhibitor inseed. To break the seed dormancy, the seed can be soaked in water at low temperature for a certain time and then the fruit's wall is stripped,and treated with some reagents to get rid of the inhibitor of seed germination. Finally the seed is put under its best conditions of germination,it willgerminate without any touch of its host. The experiment shows practical methods for the fast reproduction of Cynomorium songaricum, and is also helpful in explaining the parasitic mechanism ofCynomorium songaricum and Nitraria L.
