Song Maocheng was a distinguished writer in letter writing as essays in the late Ming Dynasty. His essays of letter writing manifested religious thinking and adjustment, endeavor and struggle to get rid of yoke, propagation and approval to the. arrogance of men of letters, pursuit and nostalgia for leisure and self-indulgence, which reveals unique value orientation and aesthetic features.
