“女勇士”的觉醒与困惑——汤亭亭小说《女勇士》评析

Awareness and Perplexity of“ the Woman Warrio r”—— On The Woman Warrior by Maxine Hong Kingston

长篇小说《女勇士》反映了几个华人女性向传统的中国男权社会所提出的挑战,表现了她们被压抑的女性意识的觉醒。“女勇士”的形象寄托了“母亲”和“我”两代华裔女性的理想。但“女勇士”的形象在许多方面还是体现了男权社会的价值观,这既是小说中的矛盾与困惑,也反映了女权主义运动自身的矛盾和问题。

This essay mainly concerns the challenges given by several Chinese women to the traditional patriarchal society, to show their suppressed awareness of feminist consciousness. Both ＂Mother＂ and ＂I＂ place their hope on the image of ＂the Woman Warrior＂ , but the image reflects value standards in the maledominated society. It embodies conflict and puzzle in the novel as well as contradiction and problems in the feminism.
