Brief Comment on School Motto of Colleges and Universities

校训是对学生在道德、修养和做人的品行方面提出的要求,引导师生修德践行,博审向学。校训主要是四字两句、二字四句和四字四句的句式,且语言简洁、精练、明快、朴实。词和词组合成短语,大多为四字格形式,三两个短语组合在一起,结构紧凑。校训在其功能上,可以凸现大学精神、体现大学“育人”的教育理念、宣传大学的办学特色。

School motto has a long history in our country and development of the new era has imbued it with new implications and new characters. Today, with the swift development of higher education, school motto brings into full play the functions of embodying university spirit, revealing the educational notion of cultivating people, and popularizing the university features, etc. Tnerefore, construction of school motto should be taken into account so as to explore the essence and the spirit of the school motto of colleges and universities through innovation.
