The victory of Hamas in the election is unexpected, but it is also in the reach of expectation. Both the US and Israel have a big response and have exerted great pressure on Hamas, but the international public opinions are conducive to the latter. The Hamas leaders are confronted with numerous questions, and their policy needs further adjustment. The Middle East peace process is not prospective at present.
