Experiences of Islamic Civilization in US—Talking From Edward W. Said and His <Covering Islam>

爱德华·W·萨义德的《掩盖伊斯兰》阐释了伊斯兰文明被以美国为主的西方媒体“妖魔化”的内在过程及其原因,进一步揭示了经济政治权力与话语权的内在合谋。在话语权被垄断的情境下,美国等西方媒体制造了一个被扭曲的、刻意掩盖的、偏见化的伊斯兰世界的图景。这是萨义德在美国所体验到的失真的伊斯兰文明。

Based upon Professor Edward W. Said＇s prominent work： Covering Islam, this article aspires to elucidate how Islam has been demonized by the western media, especially America＇s. By employing Fouculdian theory of power and knowledge, this essay further explores the innate complicity between economic and political power and discourse. Owing to the monopoly of the power of interpretation, Islam in American media is a distorted, deliberately covered and prejudiced reflection of the reality. That is the distorted Islamic civilization experienced by Said in the US.
