Verbal humor plays a crucial role in human communication. The paper briefly reviews the definitions of humor and its incongruity-resolution theory and then explores a few aspects regarding the analysis and appreciation of English verbal humor from a cognitive pragmatics＇ perspective on a basis of Relevance Theory with a purpose of making some attempt to the establishment of a framework to analyze and appreciate English verbal humors.
