The Conservative Factor of the Decline of Industry and Commerce in Italy during 16th and 17th Centuries

中世纪时意大利繁盛的工商业令人叹为观止,但是为何到了16、17世纪却逐步走向衰落,呈昨日黄花之势?学术界有不少学者从各个层面分析论述了意大利工商业衰落的原因。但是,潜藏在所有这些原因的背后还有一个共同的因素,即保守因素。可以说,保守因素渗透到意大利政治、经济生活中的各个方面,再通过这些方面综合作用,共同造成了意大利工商业的衰落局面。

The prosperity of industry and commerce was both outstanding and surprising in medieval Italy, but why did it gradually fall into a decline during 16th and 17th centuries？ Academicians heaped various reasons on its decline from different aspects, but the common factor which undefiled in all these reasons was the conservative factor, which penetrated into every field, among which the mutual effects of conservative economy and politics led to the decline of industry and commerce in Italy. This paper shows the influence of conservative factor on the dechne of its industry and commerce from the perspective of its economy.science and technology and national sprit during 16th and 17th centuries in Italy.
